Your Immune System and Laser Tattoo Removal

As a laser tattoo removal studio, we know firsthand how important a patient's immune system is in the recovery process following laser tattoo removal.  Many people don't realize that the immune system plays a big hand in the overall removal process.  The laser passes through the top layers of skin targeting the tattoo ink and breaking it up into smaller particles.  The broken up particles are then absorbed and broken down naturally by the immune system.  So what does this all mean and why is this important? This means that while the laser itself plays an integral role in the laser tattoo removal procedure, so does the bodies immune system, which is why we tell our patients to make sure their immune system is in tip top shape before undergoing the laser tattoo removal procedure.  How does one do that?  There are multiple ways to strengthen the body's immune system.  Here are a few tips on strengthening your immune system before undergoing laser tattoo removal

1- Getting a good night's rest: Studies show getting a good night's rest is one of the best ways to strengthen the body's immune system.  On average, the human body requires a good 7-8 hours of sleep a night.  While we sleep our bodies rest and heal, which is important when it comes to undergoing any type of medical procedure.  Before undergoing laser tattoo removal, try your hardest to get some rest.

2- Taking a multi-vitamin: Taking a daily multi-vitamin also aids in supporting the bodies immune system.  Multi-vitamins are a great way to help make sure the body is receiving the nutrients it needs daily.  In the weeks right before a laser tattoo removal procedure, a multi-vitamin will help keep the body’s immune system strong. The goal is to keep the immune system strong to help speed up the healing process once the tattoo removal procedure begins.

3- Getting a balanced diet: One of the best ways to strengthen the immune system is by making sure you are getting a balanced diet. Naturally, our bodies require vitamins and minerals to help strengthen the immune system, which is vital before undergoing any type of medical procedure let alone laser tattoo removal.  Try to keep aware of what you are consuming food-wise prior to laser tattoo removal
4- No smoking:  As hard as it may be to put down the cigarettes, you may want to consider it prior to undergoing laser tattoo removal.  Smoking can compromise your immune system making the body more susceptible to illness and prevent healing, which is so crucial with laser tattoo removal.  If you have been considering quitting smoking, then there’s no better time to quit then a few weeks before undergoing laser tattoo removal.  To achieve the best results, we always recommend that patients try their best to limit or drastically cut back on smoking prior to undergoing the procedure.

5- Drink tons of water: Drinking water is essential to the health of our bodies.  Water is great for the skin, which will help the skin recover following a procedure like laser tattoo removal.  Drinking water is one of the best ways to rid the body of impurities. Try to drink plenty of water prior to the tattoo removal procedure to help ensure a fast recovery.

Results are one of the most important parts of the laser tattoo removal procedure.  Undoubtedly people seeking laser tattoo removal are looking for the best results possible.  One of the best things a potential patient or current patient can do to ensure good results is to strengthen their immune system.
