What To Do During and Post Tattoo Removal

ERASE TATTOO REMOVAL STUDIO OAK BROOK, IL

Often the process of laser tattoo removal is misunderstood. The majority of the work involved in removing your tattoo it is done by your own body. The lasers work to break up the ink and the body absorbs the small particles of ink over time.

Ultimately the outcome of your laser treatment will depend largely on your own immune system and health habits.

Tattoo removal takes time and each treatment session will be scheduled weeks apart. Proper care of the treated area as well as healthy daily habits will help to ensure your tattoo will be removed.

Overall basic immune system supportive habits include getting rest, not smoking and drinking.  The skin will need to stay hydrated so patients should drink at least 8 cups of water a day and include hydrating fruits and vegetables into their diets.

Some basic tips for care during the process can include:
  • Stay hydrated
  • Avoid sun
  • Wear sunscreen
  • Keep the area dry as much as possible. Long showers, baths, swimming and extend time in water is not recommended. If the area does get wet the best way to dry is by patting the area slowly with a dry towel.
  • Patients should always avoid rubbing, itching, peeling scabs and putting pressure on the treated skin.

Blisters are normal and part of the healing process during laser tattoo removal.

A cool compress and Tylenol can help relieve the pain and pressure after laser treatment. Hydrocortison cream and Aquaporin cream can also help affected areas heal.  There should be no need for ointments with anti-biotic in them and they should be avoided as they can cause allergic reactions.

Some patients increase their overall vitamin intake to give their immune system an extra boost. This can include a supplement but the most focus on making sure they are getting extra Vitamin E, C and Zinc.

Are You Experiencing Tattoo Regret? You Are Not Alone!

Oak Brook Laser Tattoo Removal

Have you been thinking about getting laser tattoo removal? Trying to decide if you are the right candidate for the procedure and are unsure if you will get the results you are after?
Odds are that you are like many others and are not alone in your tattoo regret!

Fact is, many Americans are experiencing the same mixed emotions and looking for options to remove their ink.

So just how many people are out there just like you, choosing to move forward with their lives and wanting to remove their tattoos?

There are 45 million other people in the US with tattoos. In 2013 an estimated 1.65 Billion dollars were spent on tattoos in the US.  While many of those people love their ink, 1 out of every 7 people who get a new tattoo will choose to have laser tattoo removal at some point.

Out of the 14% of Americans who have a tattoo 17% of them experience regret over their tattoo. 11% of those people will choose to go threw with tattoo removal.

So why are people getting laser tattoo removal ?

YOUTH
A great majority of those with tattoo regret are feeling that they are too young for the tattoo or are realizing that their choice of tattoo in their youth may have not been the best one. This is the most common group of people to get laser tattoo removal. Some may have new tattoos in mind to replace the old and do not want to get a cover up. Other people just choose to simply remove the unwanted tattoo.

EMBARRASSMENT
Patients often express emotions such as embarrassment when describing their current tattoo situation.   Some people feel frustration over past tattoos that were intended to be romantic gestures and are now reminders of the relationships from the past. When these individuals try to move on with their lives they are constantly reminded of past partners. New relationships can be hurt by these tattoos as well and clients feel relief from the pressure this problem creates once they begin removing the old tattoo.   People can also experience embarrassment over tattoos once they begin families and have children. Many people express regret once their children begin to ask questions about their tattoos and want to imitate their parents decision. If you do not want to expose your tattoo to your kids or have to explain it laser tattoo removal is a great option.

POOR ARTWORK
Other clients express regret over their choice of tattoo artist or studio. Tattoo parties have grown in popularity but these parties often come with risks, such as inexperienced artists, bad ink and poor quality work. Poor ink that is either diluted or unchecked can cause serious reactions for clients. Sometimes allergies can also be triggered and once in a while people develop these allergic reactions years after getting inked. All of these are excellent reasons to get laser removal.

WORK
Often life changes can be the most important when deciding to go through with  tattoo removal. A new career or job can certainly be an incentive to remove a tattoo. While some employers are open to ink, many still express frustration over their clients or customers not sharing the same sentiment. Certain employers will not hire based on tattoos and other fields make it clear that ink is not accepted in their work environment. A good example of this can be seen in the recent changes to Army and Navy regulations, which have become more stringent about tattoos for people enrolling and serving.

At the end of the day, everyone has a different reason to want a tattoo removed. Luckily we live in a time where the technology is available for them to Erase their old tattoos!
