Reasons to Choose Laser Tattoo Removal

As an Oak Brook laser tattoo removal studio filled with laser tattoo removal experts, we are all very aware of the various forms tattoo removal methods available.  Ranging from minimally invasive to rather extensive, potential patients have a multitude of options to choose from for tattoo removal.  From our experience doing the laser tattoo removal procedure, we personally feel it is the absolute best method out on the market today.  Here are a few of the top reasons why a patient should choose laser tattoo removal over all the other methods:

1- Shorter recovery: A shorter recovery time has been noted with laser tattoo removal as opposed to other forms of removal which can take weeks for the skin to recover.  The patients skin, size of the tattoo, ink used in the tattoo design and placement of the tattoo all play a role in how many lasertattoo removal procedures will be needed to remove the tattoo.  The more treatments a patient requires, the more time the patient will spend letting the skin heal.  With other forms of removal, this can cost patients a lot of time spent waiting for the skin to heal. Laser tattoo removal treatments do less damage to the skin therefore making recovery go much faster and much easier.  Patients experience little to no downtime following a laser tattoo removal procedure.

2- Can be cost effective: Depending on the number of treatments needed and the tattoo removal studio performing the procedure, tattoo removal can get expensive.  Since the procedure is so results driven, it makes sense that patients will undergo multiple treatments just to get the desired results.  What’s good about laser tattoo removal is that it has gotten quite effective and with the advancements in technology, it has only getting better.  This gives patients the ability to undergo less treatments, which means they spend less money over time.

3- Less harsh on the skin:  Since laser technology is continually improving, lasers have gotten better about detecting ink pigments deep in the skin and breaking them up without harming surrounding skin.  As the laser beam grazes over the skin it targets the tattoo ink particles only, leaving the surrounding skin untouched.  As opposed to other methods like dermabrasion, cryosurgery and excision, laser tattoo removal does little to no damage to the skin.

4- Lower risks and side effects: Of all the removal methods available out on the market today, laser tattoo removal has a lower risk for side effects than other removal methods.  Unlike other forms of removal, laser tattoo removal utilizes a laser that is minimally invasive versus other removal methods like surgical removal for example, where the tattoo and skin is surgically removed.  The more invasive the procedure, the greater the possibility for infection.

5- Results:  Lets face it, when it comes to tattoo removal the most important part is the results that the patient gets.  Patients seeking removal are looking for stellar results and this is why we feel laser removal is the best, it simply gives results.  The success rate associated with laser tattoo removal is much higher than other results, which in part is probably why it has become the most popular method for removal.  Most of the ink found in tattoos can be broken down with specific laser beams.  Targeted beams make it easier to remove the multiple colors found in a tattoo.

Your Immune System and Laser Tattoo Removal

As a laser tattoo removal studio, we know firsthand how important a patient's immune system is in the recovery process following laser tattoo removal.  Many people don't realize that the immune system plays a big hand in the overall removal process.  The laser passes through the top layers of skin targeting the tattoo ink and breaking it up into smaller particles.  The broken up particles are then absorbed and broken down naturally by the immune system.  So what does this all mean and why is this important? This means that while the laser itself plays an integral role in the laser tattoo removal procedure, so does the bodies immune system, which is why we tell our patients to make sure their immune system is in tip top shape before undergoing the laser tattoo removal procedure.  How does one do that?  There are multiple ways to strengthen the body's immune system.  Here are a few tips on strengthening your immune system before undergoing laser tattoo removal

1- Getting a good night's rest: Studies show getting a good night's rest is one of the best ways to strengthen the body's immune system.  On average, the human body requires a good 7-8 hours of sleep a night.  While we sleep our bodies rest and heal, which is important when it comes to undergoing any type of medical procedure.  Before undergoing laser tattoo removal, try your hardest to get some rest.

2- Taking a multi-vitamin: Taking a daily multi-vitamin also aids in supporting the bodies immune system.  Multi-vitamins are a great way to help make sure the body is receiving the nutrients it needs daily.  In the weeks right before a laser tattoo removal procedure, a multi-vitamin will help keep the body’s immune system strong. The goal is to keep the immune system strong to help speed up the healing process once the tattoo removal procedure begins.

3- Getting a balanced diet: One of the best ways to strengthen the immune system is by making sure you are getting a balanced diet. Naturally, our bodies require vitamins and minerals to help strengthen the immune system, which is vital before undergoing any type of medical procedure let alone laser tattoo removal.  Try to keep aware of what you are consuming food-wise prior to laser tattoo removal
4- No smoking:  As hard as it may be to put down the cigarettes, you may want to consider it prior to undergoing laser tattoo removal.  Smoking can compromise your immune system making the body more susceptible to illness and prevent healing, which is so crucial with laser tattoo removal.  If you have been considering quitting smoking, then there’s no better time to quit then a few weeks before undergoing laser tattoo removal.  To achieve the best results, we always recommend that patients try their best to limit or drastically cut back on smoking prior to undergoing the procedure.

5- Drink tons of water: Drinking water is essential to the health of our bodies.  Water is great for the skin, which will help the skin recover following a procedure like laser tattoo removal.  Drinking water is one of the best ways to rid the body of impurities. Try to drink plenty of water prior to the tattoo removal procedure to help ensure a fast recovery.

Results are one of the most important parts of the laser tattoo removal procedure.  Undoubtedly people seeking laser tattoo removal are looking for the best results possible.  One of the best things a potential patient or current patient can do to ensure good results is to strengthen their immune system. Laser Tattoo Removal Consultations: What to Expect

Before undergoing a medical procedures, a consultation is typically the first step. Consultations provide potential patients with all of the information they need to make a decision on whether they wish to undergo a procedure or not.  If you have been considering undergoing laser tattoo removal, why not go to a consultation first?  Many laser tattoo removal studios offer a free consultation as a service to the potential patient.  The goal of the consultation is to help educate the patient on the procedure and make the patient more comfortable with the procedure.  A patient can typically expect to cover the following things during a laser tattoo removal consultation:

1- Examination of the patient's tattoo: During the consultation the laser tattoo removal staff and doctor(s) will examine the patient's tattoo, taking note of the tattoo's size, placement on the patient's body, the ink used in the tattoo and the patient's skin type.  All of those factors will determine how well the patient will take to the laser tattoo removal procedure.  Laser tattoo removal does not produce the same exact results for everyone. Some patient's take to laser tattoo removal much better than others.  The examination of the tattoo is very important to helping the doctor(s) assess how good the outcome will be from undergoing the procedure.

2- Goals: The tattoo removal staff, or doctor(s), will discuss with the patient what they are expecting to gain from the procedure, or the goals of the procedure.  Believe it or not, but goals are not the same for everyone when it comes to laser tattoo removal.  Some patients are simply looking to remove a small part of a tattoo, to lighten a tattoo, partially remove a tattoo or fully remove a tattoo. Depending on what the patient's goals are, the removal staff must know the goal so that they can act accordingly and deliver the right amount of treatment.  A full removal of a tattoo obviously will take more treatments than a partial removal.  Goals are a part of what will help determine how many sessions are needed.

3- Benefits and risks associated with the procedure: With every medical procedure comes the benefits and risks associated with the procedure.  As with most medical consultations, the removal staff or doctor(s) will address the benefits and risks associated with laser tattoo removal.  The goal is to help the patient understand what to expect from the procedure.

4- Outcome: During the consultation the removal staff or doctor(s) should be able to address what they feel the outcome will be for the patient if he or she is to undergo laser tattoo removal.  They will be able to come up with a plan for the patient which will include how many treatments will be needed to remove the tattoo.  From here a plan is put into place and the patient will have a clear idea of what to expect from the procedure and will have a better understanding of what the outcome will be from the procedure.

5- Questions: As a laser tattoo removal studio, we always tell our patients to ask any and all questions they have regarding the procedure.  Consultations are the time to ask all of your questions. Usually the removal staff or doctor(s) will encourage questions throughout the entire consultation to ensure that the patient fully understands what to expect from the procedure.

Laser Tattoo Removal: The Process

The tattoo removal process, especially laser tattoo removal, may seem like a standard procedure amongst tattoo removal studios everywhere, but that's not necessarily true.  Here at Erase Tattoo Removal we have a special process that we have developed and utilize daily to remove tattoos for patients. Here's the rundown on the what is really happening during the laser tattoo removal procedure:

1- Consultation usually comes first: Before jumping into any type of tattoo removal treatment process, consider your options.  There are a variety of different treatment options available for tattoo removal purposes and each one has its pros and cons.  Before choosing an options always schedule a consultation first.  When it comes to laser tattoo removal, your consultation will cover the laser being used, a briefing on the procedure itself, how it works, before and after care of the skin being treated, how many treatments the patient's tattoo will need, etc.  Make sure you ask plenty of questions so you can get the full grasp on everything you need to know regarding the procedure.

2- Prepping for the procedure: Before the procedure starts, the patient is prepped for the procedure. The prepping phase can vary depending on the tattoo removal studio.  Some studios will apply ice or a topical anesthetic cream to the area about to receive treatment. The patient is usually told to wear protective goggles or eye shields to protect their eyes during the procedure.  The laser emits a moderate to strong light, so goggles or protective eyewear are always recommended. The laser is typically tested on the patient's skin first before proceeding with the procedure.

3- What is really happening to the tattoo ink?: Upon the start of the procedure, a hand piece is placed against the skin and the laser light is activated. Once the laser is switched on it begins penetrating the patient's layers of skin, breaking up the ink particles.  Lasers remove tattoos by breaking up the pigment of the tattoo with a high-intensity light beam. Many patients say the firing of the laser feels like a rubber band being snapped against the skin.  As a tattoo removal studio, we strive to keep our patients comfortable during the procedure.  We use the Zimmer Chiller, which is a skin-cooling device that produces a stream of cold air to soothe the skin and provide relief during the procedure.

4- Aftercare following the procedure: Once the treatment is over most removal experts will apply ice to the area being treated by laser removal.  The patient will be asked to use a topical antibiotic cream and will be given dressings to cover the skin being treated.  Your chosen laser tattoo removal studio team will brief you on how to care for your skin following the procedure.  Aftercare is extremely important to helping the skin heal and to help avoid infection following the procedure.

The laser tattoo removal procedure is usually quite similar from one laser tattoo removal studio to another, but occasionally the procedure steps will vary.  If you are seeking laser tattoo removal, but would like to know more before undergoing the procedure, feel free to leave a comment below or contact us.

Choosing a Tattoo Removal Studio

Laser tattoo removal is a medical procedure just like any other.  The procedure requires a team of removal experts to help ensure that a patient sees great results following each treatment.  As an Oak Brook laser tattoo removal studio ourselves, we know how difficult choosing a tattoo removal studio can be.  Because it is such a difficult decision we always try to give potential patients all the information they need to make a decision.  If you or a loved one are considering laser tattoo removal but aren't sure which removal studio to choose, here are a few tips to help make the choice a little easier:

1-    Always do background research first: Take your time when it comes to choosing a studio to go with for the tattoo removal procedure.  Arm yourself with plenty of information on all the different tattoo removal studios in your area. Do not by any means simply choose the first tattoo removal studio you see listed.  Do your homework.  Create a list of the all the studios in the area and begin to narrow down your choices.  Say you’ve found 10 options, try to narrow down your choices to the top 5. The goal is to weed out studios that you don’t think are the right fit for you. Seek information on the studio, patient reviews, and samples of the studio’s work.  Once you feel confident in your narrowed down choices, schedule a consultation. Meeting the team of experts you’d be working with will most likely help you make a decision.

2-  Review your tattoo removal team's qualifications: It's probably a no-brainer, but typically people who are about to undergo any type of medical procedure want to know what their doctor, surgeon or staff's qualifications are to perform the procedure.  Plaques hanging around the studio's walls are probably a good indication of the types of certifications that your chosen tattoo removal studio staff holds, so take a look around the studio upon first entering.  Scheduling a consultation is a great way to get know the team a bit and review those qualifications.  We suggest making sure that a medical doctor is on staff.  In some states, laser technicians and removal staff do not need a medical background to perform the tattoo removal procedure, which can be concerning.  Next you may want to ask your chosen team about their history of removal.  How many procedures have they done?  How comfortable does the team seem?  Do they have any pictures to show of patients who have undergone the procedure and their results?  All these questions are a part of the "getting to know your team" process, so don't be afraid to ask questions.

3- The procedure: Upon meeting with a tattoo removal studio team they should be able to give you the details regarding the tattoo removal procedure.  The tattoo removal studio team should be able to clue you into all things tattoo removal which includes skin care following the procedure, medications they advise taking for pain, how many sessions you will need, etc.  Whichever tattoo removal studio team you end up choosing should be able to educate you a bit on the ins-and-outs of the procedure.

4- Laser: You may want to consider doing a little research on lasers before undergoing laser tattoo removal.  Most studios will talk about the laser they use with patients before the laser tattoo removal process begins.  There are many different types of lasers out there so you may want to do a little research on the laser your chosen studio tells you they will be using to remove your tattoo.  Make sure the laser being used is a medical-grade device.  It should be FDA-approved for all skin types.

As an Oak Brook tattoo removal studio we know firsthand how difficult it can be finding the right tattoo removal studio to work with.  Knowing the right questions to ask can help make it easier to choose the right studio for you.  If you have comments or questions regarding choosing a tattoo removal studio, feel free to leave us a comment below or contact us.
