All About The Cover Up Tattoo

 Erase Tattoo removal

There are many people living with tattoo regret. Some of these people (maybe even you) are considering a cover up tattoo.  Cover up tattoos can help relieve the immediate tattoo regret a person is experiencing but there is still a lot to consideration to be done before going back into the tattoo shop.

The saying “ #ThinkBeforeYouInk " applies to cover up tattoos even more because even laser tattoo removal may not be able to remove that cover up tattoo. At this point you may be realizing that this saying is true and trying to find out information about cover up tattoos and the importance of having a professional tattoo artist for your next tattoo.

While it may seem that a cover up tattoo may be an easy solution, there is much more to it, and it is important to get all the information before the cover up tattoo. Why you may ask? Well, because once you get that cover up tattoo there is no removing it. In fact it will be almost impossible to remove a cover up tattoo with laser removal. The only option to remove a cover up is a surgical procedure and with that comes all of the discomforts and all of the costs related to surgery.

If you are considering a cover up you already understand what we mean when we talk about tattoo regret. There is nothing worse than getting a tattoo over one that is regrettable, with yet another regrettable tattoo that can't be removed.

To make sure this doesn’t happen to you, thoroughly weigh your options and intentions. If you are not planning to go tattoo free for work or career purposes than a cover up may be a good option. If you do feel that you will need to possible hide your tattoo for work or that it will keep you from perusing a career or increased income in the future, than laser tattoo removal may be worth considering. There are many people who fall for the myths around tattoo removal procedures, but with technological advancement in recent years, laser tattoo removal has become more effective and efficient than ever before. The procedures are getting shorter and lasers are designed to limit pain, scarring while providing great results.

For those that are truly committed to getting a cover up tattoo it is important to realize that just like with all tattoo art, there is no guarantee that what you invision will become the tattoo you get to cover the old one.

In fact cover up tattoo’s can be even harder for artists and most professional studios will warn people of the difficulty regarding cover up tattoos and limit their expectations.
It is important to do your research and get several professional tattoo artists to look at the tattoo you have and what your chosen cover up tattoo will be.  They can give you a consult on how and what it would take to cover the old ink and what other options you may have.

When your consulting with a professional tattoo artist about your cover up tattoo ask them if a better result for the cover up would involve some laser tattoo removal. Getting some of the old ink removed can make your new cover up tattoo even better & make it easier for the tattoo artist to make your vision come to life.

If your chosen tattoo artist think that you would benefit from tattoo removal before your cover up then you can move forward and request a consult from several of your local tattoo removal studios. You may wonder why you would need to compare and not want to spend the time to this.

Just like at our tattoo removal studio in Oak Brook, IL, there are many that can do online consultations, which save time and energy for clients. Simply email a photo of your tattoo with size and color information and the studio will be able to give you a quote.

It is important to find out a few things before you go under the laser to remove your tattoo.  Make sure the tattoo removal studio has Doctors performing the laser tattoo removal procedure and information about the staff; including experience and education. Learn about the type or types of lasers that will be used for your treatment and make sure to learn pre and post laser removal procedures; like skin care, immune system support and treatment plans. This is all key in making sure you get the best result possible. Proper care and good health can help the body remove the ink from your skin and get you that new cover up tattoo that you have been dreaming of.

Removing Radiation Tattoos With Lasers

Erase Tattoo Removal Blog

For cancer survivor’s radiation tattoos are part of the prolonged process of treatment that was endured under great stress. Tattoos are placed on the body to help oncologists identify treatment points and ensure that the radiation is being placed in the correct location each time they go in for treatment. Patients undergoing these treatments often need multiple tattoos on their body and once their treatments are done the tattoos can remain for years. With new advancement in laser  tattoo removal technology, cancer survivors are getting much needed relief and options to remove those radiation tattoos.

Cancer treatment is a long process. It often creates fatigue, illness, and makes life difficult for those receiving the treatments. Small things that people regularly do become extremely difficult. For those that survive and are living their lives free from cancer the tattoos end up being a consistent reminder of that experience. Removing the tattoo can help to bring closure to this chapter of a persons life.

There are several programs available for those looking to remove their radiation tattoos. For those that may not have a clinic offering these services nearby we will help explain the process and information that would be offered in your consult.

The tattoo removal process is drawn out, and there are no instant results. Survivors would have to commit to treatment plans that are stretched out in intervals over several months. This will allow the skin to heal after laser sessions. It will also allow the body, which is responsible for doing the majority of the work, to remove the tattoo.

Firstly, it is recommended that radiation tattoo removal should be done when the person is 100% finished with radiation, and may require verification from the oncologist to start laser tattoo removal treatment. As stated above the body is doing the majority of the removal, and the laser works to break up the ink particles. Each laser session will break up the ink in the tattoo, and the body will digest the ink during the time between treatment sessions.

Good health and high immunity is key in successful tattoo removal. The skin is a sensitive organ and needs to be prepared to this extra work.  In the initial consultation, the Doctor and staff should explain in detail the outlined plan for treatments based on the size, or number of tattoos needing removal. They will also identify the skin type and health of the client to fully understand how many treatments will be needed and what kind of laser to use.

It is up to the individual to follow post care practices in between their laser treatment.  This includes applying sunscreen when outdoors, keeping area protected from water and exposure to chemicals. It is advised that people increase their immune system by avoiding smoke, alcohol and other substances that can potentially weaken their body while they are attempting to have tattoos removed. Getting rest and consistently exercising will also help ensure that patients get the most out of the Laser tattoo removal.

How To Care For Your Skin In Winter Months

The cold weather is coming and it will be affecting your immune systems and skin. Since the tattoo removal process is stretched out, some people may be getting their tattoo removed during the cold season. When it comes to tattoo removal, it is very important to keep up on healthy habits. Being proactive about your health and skin will ensure the best outcome.

The immune system is the key to removing your unwanted ink. The lasers break up the ink and the body does the rest of the work. If the your immune system and skin system is not healthy and strong, you will inhibit its ability to the job.

We encourage all of our clients to be proactive with their skin care during and post treatment. By doing these simple things, they are going to get the best results from their laser tattoo removal and have an overall better tattoo removal experience.

Winter skin care routines should change slightly from summer time. Just as in summer months, it is encouraged to apply skin protection from the sun. Protecting your skin from UV rays is important during tattoo removal and should be at least 25 SPF or more. Ample moisture is important as well. Skin dries during the cold months and there are a several things people can do to help their skin stay moisturized. Adding a humidifier to the house, applying lotions and staying hydrated are some examples. For those removing tattoos, lotion should always be approved by the doctor at your tattoo removal studio of choice.  On top of drinking plenty of fluid, extra tea's like Green Tea or Chamomile tea can be added. Both have been proven to help increase immunity and good health.  People can also increase foods with high water content. Examples of this can be fruits and veggies like melons, berries and lettuce.

To insure the immune system is being supported additional supplements of Vit. C, E and D can be used during winter months. People interested in adding supplemental support to their diet should consult their physician.  The lack of sun during winter and shorter hours decreases the amount of Vitamin D in our bodies. Vitamin C can help boost the overall immune system and the Vitamin E supports healthy skin.   Some may also want to add live probiotic supplements or increase the amount of foods with live active cultures like yogurt. These are great for your overall health and act in supporting the digestive & immune systems.

The basic daily habits of people going through laser tattoo removal should not be overlooked; getting lots of sleep and exercising is important in the winter time as we decrease the amount of outdoor actives we participate in. Last but not least, smoking and drinking alcohol can decrease your immunity in huge ways, so avoiding these things is a good idea. They will not only make your skin healthier or support the body as it removes the ink throughout your treatments.

Ultimately being proactive about your skin care and health will lead to better results from your laser tattoo removal treatments and who doesn't want that?

What You Need To Do After Your Laser Tattoo Removal Treatment

Laser tattoo removal is a serious procedure. The experience and results varies from patient to patient. Most studios will give detailed instruction for post care after laser treatment but there are general tips that everyone can benefit from. Those looking to remove tattoos should learn about what is expected and how to care for the treated area before they start their laser treatment.

First things first.Blisters are normal and expected after laser tattoo removal. The blisters are a part of the healing process and clients should allow their blisters to heal on their own. It is not advised to pick at the scabs and or blisters. This can cause infection as well as irritation to the skin. The best thing to do is to have treated area covered and to apply ointment 3 times each day.

Things to avoid include excessive time in water, sun and other skin irritants such as lotions, creams and balms. Oils in creams can cause the area to react in negative ways so only use ointment given to you by the doctor at the tattoo removal studio you choose.

When taking showers, keep the area as dry as possible and limit shower length. It is best to avoid baths, pools, hot tubs and any other activity that would include getting the treated are moist for an extensive amount of time. After exposing the area to water, pat dry slowly and avoid rubbing, this can cause the blisters to pop or peel and result in scaring.

Some people experience pain in the treated area. For this we suggest a cool compress and Tylenol. Antibacterial cream is not needed unless prescribed to treat infection by a doctor after the treatment.

If for any reason the area begins to bleed or show signs of extensive irritation it is important to seek medical help. These could be signs of infection or reactions that will not be helped by ointment. Always seek professional medical help in any cases where there is bleeding, or extreme pain .

Staying healthy is vital to the healing process both before, after and during tattoo removal. Avoiding smoke and other substances that can lower your immune system. To protect the skin from sun it is also recommended that people use sunscreen that is at least SPF 25 or higher as the area will be extremely sensitive. Staying hydrated is helping your skin heal & is vital to the success of laser tattoo removal.
Overall people that have recently had laser tattoo removal treatment or are going to be treated should work on increasing the strength of their immune system and be proactive about staying healthy during the lengthy process.

What To Do During and Post Tattoo Removal

ERASE TATTOO REMOVAL STUDIO OAK BROOK, IL

Often the process of laser tattoo removal is misunderstood. The majority of the work involved in removing your tattoo it is done by your own body. The lasers work to break up the ink and the body absorbs the small particles of ink over time.

Ultimately the outcome of your laser treatment will depend largely on your own immune system and health habits.

Tattoo removal takes time and each treatment session will be scheduled weeks apart. Proper care of the treated area as well as healthy daily habits will help to ensure your tattoo will be removed.

Overall basic immune system supportive habits include getting rest, not smoking and drinking.  The skin will need to stay hydrated so patients should drink at least 8 cups of water a day and include hydrating fruits and vegetables into their diets.

Some basic tips for care during the process can include:
  • Stay hydrated
  • Avoid sun
  • Wear sunscreen
  • Keep the area dry as much as possible. Long showers, baths, swimming and extend time in water is not recommended. If the area does get wet the best way to dry is by patting the area slowly with a dry towel.
  • Patients should always avoid rubbing, itching, peeling scabs and putting pressure on the treated skin.

Blisters are normal and part of the healing process during laser tattoo removal.

A cool compress and Tylenol can help relieve the pain and pressure after laser treatment. Hydrocortison cream and Aquaporin cream can also help affected areas heal.  There should be no need for ointments with anti-biotic in them and they should be avoided as they can cause allergic reactions.

Some patients increase their overall vitamin intake to give their immune system an extra boost. This can include a supplement but the most focus on making sure they are getting extra Vitamin E, C and Zinc.
