The History Behind Tattoo Removal

Tattoo Removal History

Tattoos have been gracing the bodies of humans for over five thousand of years. For almost as long people have tried to remove them. With advancement in laser technology it easier than ever before to remove tattoos.

While the results vary from person to person and no laser removal is 100% guaranteed, the latest advancements have created processes in reducing pain and damage to the skin. Our clients at ERASE  have reported great stories after treatment with the Asclepion TattooStar Effect Laser featured in the photo above. This amazing laser has advanced technology that allows us to remove tattoo's more efficiently and more effectively for our clients.

Tattoo history is extensive and have been found in many cultures around the world going as far back as 300 BC. Some of evidence includes a discovery in Eurasian near the Alps on "Otzi the Iceman". Other ethnic groups including those of German and Celtic origins had tattoos as far as 2nd millennium BC.

Tattoo removal has always been something people around the world have attempted to do but not until now have they been truly successful at doing so. In the past people tried often-extreme processes to remove unwanted tattoos. This included dermabrasion, TCA, which removes the top layer of skin through the use of chemical acid, and lastly Sal abrasion, which is the process of removing the top layer of skin with salt. All of these past tattoo removal processes were extremely painful and did not create enough results for many people to continue.

Often people who had tattoo regret or bad tattoos were forced to live with them for the rest of their lives. With this came home remedies and creams that some still try to use to this day. The most popular of those included a mixture of garlic, lime and wine and some even attempted to remove tattoos with pigeon excrement. Again, these did not truly remove the tattoo. Home remedies, cremes and balms can not go deep enough into the skin to break up the ink particles of the tattoo and often misrepresent results. There are now many products which claim to remove tattoos but unfortunately there is only one medical lotion that is FDA approved. This cream needs to be prescribed by a doctor and is not often recommend.

In the 90's the Q-switched laser began introducing people to professional laser tattoo removal. From then on the technology only kept advancing and improving results of laser treatments.
The treatment amounts and length of sessions continues to get shorter. This allows people to experience less pain and get faster results. While technology has advanced it is important to mention a major reason in success of tattoo removal is not only based on the laser but also the person. Good overall health and immune system is critical in successful tattoo removal.

Career's, Families & Tattoo's Don't Always Mix

In today’s society tattoos are more accepted than ever but tattoo removal is more common than people may realize. People who choose to have the procedure done tend to be worried about multiple factors including work opportunities. Other people simply regret the tattoo for personal reasons.  Studies have shown that individuals who got tattoo’s in their teens or early twenties are more likely to opt for tattoo removal later on in life.  What may have been a great idea for someone in there twenties is often not a great idea for professional, parent or grandparent. Individuals who feel uncomfortable with their choice of tattoo and opt for laser tattoo removal treatment will definitely feel remarkably less stress once they are able put their past behind them.

Trends are showing us that clients prefer to have upper body tattoos removed. This is likely to be because these tattoos 's have greater visibility. Out of approximately 4o million people, an estimated 16-17 % of them will eventually have their tattoo removed.  The decision to have laser tattoo removal is growing and expected to keep growing as many people are in search of jobs or new careers after the recession.

While there is a stigma around tattoos in society, it is slowly changing; tattoos have increasingly grown in popularity. Currently 36% of people ages 18-29 have a tattoo. Unfortunately though, many of these people are finding that having a tattoo can mean being stigmatized and discriminated against in the workplace.  Many employers and recruiters find that visible tattoo’s have a negative reaction from customers and will choose to hire other people after taking into consideration the effect of visible tattoos on their customers & company environment.

Findings point to employers preferring candidates with a more professional image & feel their employee’s image is a direct reflection of them to their customers.  Certain fields have a no tolerance policy in place that specifically state that tattoo’s should be covered while on the job. Unfortunately many times employers will not make their opinion of tattoos clear during the hiring process but take tattoos into account when choosing candidates.

A good example of discrimination against tattoos can be seen in the cyber security industry. This field is rapidly growing but candidates should be mindful of the stigma around tattoos when applying for these positions.  In this field, tattoos are still not accepted and candidates will be turned away for having tattoos despite being qualified for the jobs they are applying for.

Other reasons’s for tattoo removal could mean lifestyle changes, marriage and childbirth. Examples of this can be having an ex-boyfriends/girlfriends name removed. Others want to remove sayings/quotes that they have to explain to their children and grandchildren. The fear of embarrassment in front of family and judgment over previous lifestyle choices.

There are many reasons to have a tattoo removed and it seems more than ever before people are choosing to remove their "bad" or visible tattoos and keep the more memorable ones out of sight.  With laser technology developments such as the Asclepion Tattoo star Effect Laser & R20 procedure it is easier and faster than ever to remove an old tattoo and move forward with ones life and career.

Considering Tattoo Removal? Start to Strengthen Your Immune System

Removing tattoos is an important decision & everyone wants to have to best outcome when they choose to have a laser procedures. While the tools, such as the Asclepion Tattoo Star Effect Laserwe have can help speed up the process & eliminate past tattoos, there is something each person can do to ensure that they get the best possible outcome from treatment. We encourage all of our clients to focus on improving their immune system before starting tattoo removal procedure.  This can greatly help with the skins healing process after and during treatment. We hope that these tips will help point out some easy solutions to prepare you for your laser treatment.

There are several things everyone can do to help build a strong immune system. The best way increasing your immunities strength is a systematic approach.  Committing to a regiment can make a big difference in results of treatment not only treatment to remove tattoos but overall health. Focusing on healthy lifestyle choices is the main factor in improving one’s immune system. Some basic & inexpensive things everyone can do to help their immune system get stronger include, getting adequate sleep & exercise. Diet is also very important in making sure your body is getting vitamins and nutrients it needs. If you are experiencing a vitamin deficiency, consult your doctor and ask about how you can include these vitamins in your daily regiment.  Vitamins A, C, E, and Zinc are integral because they have a direct relationship with your immune system and skin health. Another key factor in improving one’s immune system is avoiding stressful situations, sugars, smoking and excessive drinking. Stress can delay the production of T-Cells in the body while drinking and smoking pollutes the body with negative chemicals, which make your immune system work harder to defend itself from infection.

A healthy diet is key in improving one’s immune system. Changing your diet can be difficult but some easy solutions include replacing starches, sugars and fats with vegetables and fruits for extra immune support. Some specific foods to start including include citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruits that contain Vitamin C. Mushroom’s like Shitake’s can also greatly benefit the body by increasing cytokine, a small protein that acts as a receptor and send signals to cells that support the immune system.  Adding a variety of vegetables such as leafy greens like spinach and kale provide extra nutritional support with Vitamin K, C, & E.  Greens are extremely beneficial because they are also loaded with iron, calcium, potassium and Omega 3’s.  Yogurt can be another beneficial addition to a diet as it contains a generous amount of the live probiotic’s. Probiotic’s can work to strengthen your immune & digestive system. Honey, ginger, garlic and onion all have benefits for the immune system and can be added to meals or dressings as simple additions.

Overall, if you are considering a tattoo removal laser treatment it is very important that you take the extra steps to increase your immune systems strength to get the best possible results from your treatment.  By including some of these things in your daily regiment you can feel comfortable in knowing you are working to strengthen your immune system in preparation for laser tattoo removal treatment.

How To Get A Great Tattoo And Never Regret It

As a Chicago tattoo removal studio, we too often see individuals come in wanting to remove a tattoo that was poorly done, they are embarrassed by, or ashamed of, or maybe a new job does not approve.  While we know that many tattoos can be amazing, creative and beautiful, we also know that they can just as easily be hideous and make people regretful.  With that said, we would like to provide you with some tips to consider to make sure when you get a tattoo, it is a great one that you won’t regret and will not be in need of our services at our Oak Brook tattoo removal studio.

How Much Do You Want To Spend?

We all know that money is typically what everything revolves around.  So chances are, if you want an entire sleeve, and you only spent $100 on it, it probably will not end up being quality work.  But just because you may spend thousands of dollars on a sleeve does not guarantee that it will be a tattoo well done.  Also, as a tip from our tattoo removal studio, plan or make a budget for the money you want to spend and put into the tattoo because if you don’t, we may be scheduling a tattoo removal session.

Where Do You Want It?

Our suggestion for a tattoo, assuming it is your first one, is that you get a tattoo that is easily coverable for working environments.  We highly do not recommend that your first tattoo ends up being below the wrist or above the neck.  You should not only consider tattoo placement for jobs, but for the sake of being taken seriously by legal professionals whether it be a judge, lawyer or cop.  We have several clients that love their tattoos but end up needing to get them removed just because of the placement and they pay our laser tattoo removal studio in Chicagoland a visit.

What Are You Going To Get?

If you are not sure you know exactly what you wont, DO NOT GET IT.  If you have an idea for a tattoo we recommend you have a tattoo artist draw it out.  After they do so, post the image somewhere you will look at on a daily basis.  This will help test whether it is something you will get bored or sick of.  You want to get a tattoo you will love forever considering the fact that tattoos are ultimately made to be permanent and not to end up needing tattoo removal.  If after a few weeks or months you see that you are still obsessed with the design, then go find the best tattoo artists and get the tattoo done!

How Do I Find A Good Tattoo Artist?

This is a very subjective question only because many tattoo artists have their areas of expertise.  Not only that, but there are good tattoo artists all over the world, in some instances you have to be willing to pay a pretty penny to have the most seasoned artist tattoo you.  Take a look at Bmezine and search for artists in your area.  We also recommend you look at tattoo blogs or tattoo removal blogs to find any information about a positive or negative experience at a studio.

As experts in laser tattoo removal, we take pride in what we do and we can only hope that other professionals take pride in their work as well, especially when it comes to tattoos.  However, we understand that the world is not a perfect place and that is why we provide tattoo removal options for individuals.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to comment below or contact our Oak Brook laser tattoo removal studio today.
